Students joining University of Maryland, College Park for Spring 2007:

Congratulations on being admitted to the University of Maryland at College Park (UMCP)! Prepare yourself for an entertaining and fun-filled time in one of the biggest and most reputed public universities in the US. The members of the Students Council of India (SCI) extend a hearty welcome to you.

SCI is a student organization at the UMCP campus that provides a forum for Indian students to interact with each other. SCI organizes various activities for the students. It also coordinates an important task of helping new incoming students to have a quick and smooth transition to the life at UMCP. We highly recommend that you explore this website which has a host of information that includes pre-arrival preparations and also a survival guide. Pre-arrival guide includes information regarding books for different programs, utensils and other necessory items that you might need to bring from India. Books are extremely expensive in US and it is advisable to bring a few textbooks from India.
